A new species of human has been discovered in Indonesia. It didn't become extinct until 13,000 years ago, so it definitely existed alongside modern man. The interesting thing is that they were only the size of a modern three-year-old child. So, maybe Mini-Me isn't a midget, he's just an ancestor of these guys.
